• Those who are ill.

Gracious Father, around us and in the world, among us in our circle of friends and family, and next to us at the workplace are those whose bodies are weary from illness, disease, and infirmity.  Bear them up in Your arms, for You can heal, comfort, and restore.  Give health again where it is Your will.  Give us patience, the will, and the ability to bear with others their burdens and stand at their side to comfort, to cheer, and to assist them.  When according to Your plan, the ill return to health, move us to sing Your praise.  In Jesus' name. Amen.

• Those who stay close to home.

Father God, we lift up those who sometimes are frightened by all the challenges and uncertainties of this life.  By the power of Your Holy Spirit fill them with the courage to face each day in your strength.  We thank you for your promise to love us, forgive us, walk with us, and to be our ever present help in time of need.  As Your Son called on You in His hour of trial, we ask for courage to surrender all things to Your hands and gracious will.  In Jesus' name. Amen.

• Those who serve in the military.

Heavenly Father, ruler of all, we give thanks to You for all the men and women who choose to serve with unselfish love that others may live in freedom and peace.  In Your mercy bless them.  Guide them through Your Word by Your Spirit that they may be high in purpose, wise in counsel, and unwavering in duty.  Through their sacrifice to service we pray that we may be a people at peace among ourselves and a blessing to other nations.  Father, in troubled times, do not let our trust in You fail, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
